Saving Money on Car Maintenance / Costs

Don’t ignore maintenance.

Act when you notice any warning lights or wear and tear as soon as you see it. When you leave something to worsen, it can become more expensive to fix. For example, if you do not replace worn brake pads, the delay could lead to disc damage which can be far more costly. Regular car maintenance should result in lower repair costs. We have maintenance packages available for all of our vehicle contracts, making it easier to manage and reducing unforeseen costs.

Read your maintenance guide.

Read your vehicle’s maintenance guide and keep on top of the recommended and scheduled services and checks.
You may prefer to go to a franchised dealer for service and repair. Even though this may cost you more in the beginning, long term it helps to maintain the value of your car. If you have a contract with us, you can take it to any garage using genuine parts to reduce costs.

Shop around for tyres.

Replacement tyres should be of similar brand and quality on a lease. Make sure to shop around and get plenty of different quotes on them to get the best price. Some suppliers may offer to price match the tyre cost and it’s genuinely worth asking. A maintenance package from us can include tyres too, so we are only a phone call away.

Do your homework on standard charges.

If you feel that a mechanic is suggesting unnecessary work, check it out by getting a second opinion.
You can check a price by getting online quotes through comparison websites. You do not have to use their garages, but it may give you a better idea of the price you should be paying for the work.
Don’t be afraid to ask for a better deal if you have been quoted a cheaper price elsewhere. The worst they can say is no!

Purchase an extended warranty.

If you plan on keeping or leasing a car past the included warranty – purchasing an extended warranty could save you a lot of money for unexpected repairs. You don’t have to buy this from the car manufacturer directly, there are many other providers for this online. Shop around and get different quotes as some may offer greater value, but check independent reviews first. Also, pay very close attention to what is not covered as this can save you a massive amount of money if something goes wrong.

Thank you very much for reading our blog and we hope this helps you in future to save money on running costs for your vehicle.
